With that in mind, S&W has just announced an upgraded version that is somewhat clumsily labeled the SMU\/Bundle Series.<\/p>\n The name might be awkward, but the rifle\u2019s handling should be just the opposite, thanks to updated furniture from B5 Systems. This includes a telescoping B5 Systems Bravo Stock with anti-rotational QD mounts, SOPMOD cheek weld, fixed sling swivel mounts, color-matched steel hardware, a Sure grip stock latch, and non-slop buttpad with M4 Multitasker tool holder (more details here<\/a>).<\/p>\n The updated rifle also has a B5 Systems Type 23 P-Grip, with a more vertically-oriented grip angle and extended tang to help the shooter\u2019s hand fit ergonomically and provide better trigger indexing. It\u2019s aggressively textured, although most shooters won\u2019t have much trouble keeping the .22LR semi-auto under control. Like the Bravo Stock, the Type 23 P-Grip is made in the U.S.; more details here<\/a>.<\/p>\n The stock and grip are more commonly seen on centerfire ARs, but the whole point of the M&P15-22 is to offer an AR-like experience in .22LR. [Smith & Wesson}<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Smith & Wesson also spec\u2019d Magpul\u2019s folding MBUS sights front and rear. These lightweight iron sights are spring-loaded, popping into place with the push of a button on either side or by pushing the top. They fold away if not needed. Like the B5 Systems accessories, these are made in the U.S.; more details here<\/a>.<\/p>\n The MBUS sights attach to a Picatinny-style rail that runs the full length of the M&P15-22 receiver. There are M-LOK slots on the sides and bottom of the forend, for attachment of slings, lights or other accessories. The muzzle of the 16.5-inch barrel ends in\u00a01\/2X28 thread, with an A2-style birdcage flash hider attached; obviously, other attachments are also possible.<\/p>\n The pop-up sights offer backup even if you have an optic mounted.
