G9 Defense has a new load option for the 6.5 Creedmoor. The Super Match loading pairs a solid copper projectile with brass from Alpha Munitions. Let\u2019s see what makes this ammo different.<\/p>\n

Most bullets use a lead core with a copper jacket encasing it. The monolithic bullet in the G9 Super Match load is made from solid copper. That uniform construction means there is no potential for irregularities in the bond between two separate materials. Rather than drawing the copper jacket over the core, a monolithic bullet is turned in a machine like a lathe.<\/p>\n

G9\u2019s Super Match bullet has bands machined in that reduce the amount of bullet that touches the barrel. This, in turn, is said to reduce the amount of friction and thus increase velocity. G9 claims a muzzle velocity of 2,950 FPS from a 24-inch barrel and lists a .625 G1 ballistic coefficient for this projectile. It requires a 1:8 twist rate to adequately stabilize the bullet.<\/p>\n
