I know they have a very good relationship and a lot of respect for each other, but again, I think that the Chinese will see that this high tariff level is unsustainable for their business model,\u201d Bessent told ABC News&#8217; &#8220;This Week&#8221; co-anchor Martha Raddatz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Bessent also offered a time frame of \u201cmonths\u201d to hammer out a trade deal with <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/alerts\/china\" id=\"_ap_link_China_China_\" target=\"_blank\">China<\/a>, but suggested \u201cgood behavior\u201d from other countries engaged in negotiations could keep the tariffs from remaining high.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">\u201cA trade deal can take months, but an agreement in principle and, the good behavior and staying within the parameter of the deal by our trading partners can keep the tariffs from ratcheting back to the maximum level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \"><em class=\" \">This is a developing story.
