Across the island and at the 26-century-old El-Ghriba synagogue, Jews welcome thousands each year for three days of festivities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Trabelsi, who is Jewish and served as Tunisia\u2019s tourism minister from 2018 to 2020, said little was known about the attacker, adding he did not assume it had to do with religion or the holiday, but would await findings from Tunisian authorities about potential motives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">\u201cWe fully trust Tunisian authorities because we\u2019re Tunisian too,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Trabelsi said that the store owner was expected to be released from the hospital on Friday after sustaining defensive wounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Tunisian police have expanded security on the island, Trabelsi said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Two years ago, a 30-year-old Tunisian national guardsman <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/tunisia-attack-synagogue-jewish-pilgrimage-djerba-8e22efc4acf142e64ba577f8f3183604\">killed<\/a> two Jewish pilgrims and three security officers during the festival.
